Building Stronger Credit Access and Infrastructure in Ethiopia: NBE and IFC sign an Agreement to Promote Access to Finance for the Underserved.
Ethiopia is implementing reforms to strengthen the credit information system in order to increase access to credit for underserved segments. The system, held at the credit bureau, allows the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) to monitor the performance of the credit industry, support supervision and risk monitoring, and strengthen stability. The cooperation agreement signed with IFC today will modernize the credit information ecosystem in Ethiopia, enabling the growth of data-based digital lending for MSMEs and agri-value chain actors, who are the backbone of the economy.
