The National Bank of Ethiopia in collaboration with the Ethiopia Customs Commission, has introduced a new digital service that simplifies the issuance of NBE Account Numbers for newly licensed importers and exporters.
The service enables NBE Account Numbers to be issued seamlessly through the Customs Electronic Single Window (eSW), reducing administrative procedures and supporting faster processing.
The new service applies only to newly licensed importers and exporters obtaining an NBE Account Number for the first time. Businesses that already have an NBE Account Number should continue using their existing number for all import and export transactions.
This initiative is part of the National Bank of Ethiopia’s ongoing efforts to modernize trade-related services, improve the ease of doing business, and enhance digital public service delivery.
